Chair

Kiara (she/her) is the Chair of the RAP Steering Committee. She was formerly a member of the 2020 criminal justice team and was one of the co-authors of RAP’s report “Police Panopticon: Zooming in on the Use of Body Worn Cameras by Victoria Police Officers”. Kiara is passionate about social justice and human rights and believes RAP has an important role in preparing a new generation of social justice advocates. Kiara is especially passionate about police and prison abolition, First Nations justice, and access to justice. Outside of RAP, Kiara works to promote human rights and equality as a discrimination and sexual harassment lawyer.

Deputy Chair

Shauna (she/her) is the Deputy Chair of RAP, where she oversees RAP's training and events program. She joined the Steering Committee in 2022. Shauna is proud of RAP's work in building a community of activists, law students and lawyers which utilises the law for social change. Outside of RAP, Shauna works as a pro bono lawyer.

Immediate Past Chair and General Member

Rochelle (she/her) is part of the Steering Committee to build a generation of lawyers and advocates with the skills and vision to use law to create social change. She joined the Steering Committee in January 2019. In 2018, she was a member of the refugees and people seeking asylum working group which advocated for the dissolution of Australia’s arrangement with Taiwan for the medical transfer and treatment of people seeking asylum held on Nauru. Outside of RAP, Rochelle works as a lawyer to protect and promote human rights and civil liberties across housing, disability and mental health law, social security and infringements.

General Member

Arabella (she/her) is a lawyer in Victoria Legal Aid's Civil Justice program. Arabella was a member of the 2019 RAP Criminal Justice team and worked on the report into the Victorian bail system. She joined the steering committee as the Criminal Justice Ongoing Advocacy Coordinator in 2020.

Kali (she/her) joined RAP in 2024 as a Steering Committee general member. Kali originally hails from Aotearoa New Zealand where she was involved in social justice, animal rights, environmental and workers rights activism. In her career in Australia, Kali has worked as a lawyer running discrimination and sexual harassment claims for victim survivors and volunteered at several community legal centres, including assisting asylum seekers. Kali now works in a private pro bono team on a range of human rights and law reform issues. She is motivated by the idea that law can be a powerful tool to create change for the most marginalised communities and sees RAP’s role as a vital part of advancing human rights in Australia.
